FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NORTHERN ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HUNTSVILLE AL
439 AM CDT THU JUL 28 2016

.DISCUSSION...
A VERY MOIST SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW PATTERN WILL CONTINUE ACROSS
THE CENTRAL TN VALLEY FROM TODAY THROUGH FRIDAY, AS THE REGION
WILL REMAIN TO THE NW OF A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE
SOUTHEASTERN ATLANTIC COAST. SEVERAL WAVES OF SHOWERS AND A
FEW THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE REGION TODAY AND
THIS EVENING, WITH ACTIVITY BECOMING A BIT MORE SCATTERED ON
FRIDAY. MOST OF THE REGION WILL RECEIVE BETWEEN 0.5-1 INCH OF
RAINFALL, ALTHOUGH SOME LOCATIONS ACROSS NW AL AND ALONG THE
TN-AL STATE LINE MAY RECEIVE UP TO 2 INCHES. REGARDLESS OF THE
CLOUDS AND PRECIPITATION, A WSW TRANSPORT FLOW OF 25-30 MPH
WILL LEAD TO GOOD SMOKE DISPERSION TODAY. DISPERSION RATES WILL
STRENGTHEN FURTHER ON FRIDAY AS MIXING HEIGHTS REBOUND INTO THE
6000-6500 FT RANGE.

RATHER HIGH CHANCES FOR PRECIPITATION WILL PERSIST THROUGHOUT
THE WEEKEND AND FIRST PART OF NEXT WEEK, AS FLOW ALOFT SHIFTS TO
THE NW ALLOWING SEVERAL DISTURBANCES TO ENHANCE SHOWER AND
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY. A RETURN TO WARMER AND MORE HUMID
CONDITIONS (WITH LOWER RAIN CHANCES) WILL OCCUR BY MID-WEEK, AS
A STRONG RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE SHIFTS EASTWARD FROM THE CENTRAL
PLAINS.
