...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY
EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents.

* WHERE...Kenedy Island, Willacy Island and Cameron Island
  Counties.

* WHEN...Through Tuesday evening.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
  from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Swell direction has turned easterly this
  afternoon, changing the nature of the currents from a south-to-
  north longshore and east to west rip mix to strictly an east-
  to-west rip current condition. An outflow from earlier
  thunderstorms more than 200 miles offshore was moving from
  northeast to southwest late Monday afternoon...and this
  situation will further increase the rip current intensity this
  evening and overnight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.
