...A FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CDT WEDNESDAY FOR
CENTRAL SUMNER COUNTY...

RECENT HEAVY RAINFALL HAS RESULTED IN FLOODING ON SLATE CREEK NEAR
WELLINGTON. THE CREEK IS NEAR CREST AT 20.2 FEET, AND WILL BEGIN A
VERY SLOW FALL OVERNIGHT. THE FLOOD WARNING INCLUDES INTERSTATE 35
BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 11 AND 25.

AT 21 FEET...SENECA ROAD BETWEEN 40TH AND 60TH STREETS...SOUTHEAST
OF WELLINGTON...WILL FLOOD. WOODS PARK IN WELLINGTON WILL ALSO
FLOOD.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

MOST FLOOD DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. NEVER DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO
AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. FLOOD WATERS ARE USUALLY
DEEPER THAN THEY APPEAR. JUST ONE FOOT OF FLOWING WATER IS POWERFUL
ENOUGH TO SWEEP VEHICLES OFF THE ROAD. WHEN ENCOUNTERING FLOODED
ROADS MAKE THE SMART CHOICE...TURN AROUND...DONT DROWN.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. MOVE UP TO
HIGHER GROUND TO ESCAPE FLOOD WATERS. DO NOT STAY IN AREAS SUBJECT TO
FLOODING WHEN WATER BEGINS RISING.
