A FEW CLUSTERS OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS AFFECTED FAR SOUTHERN
PORTIONS OF KANSAS THURSDAY MORNING...RESULTING IN AREAS OF VERY
HEAVY RAIN AND LOCALIZED FLOODING SOUTH AND WEST OF THE WICHITA
METRO. THE AFTERNOON GAVE WAY TO MOSTLY SUNNY AND HOT
CONDITIONS...WITH LATE DAY TEMPERATURES IN THE 80S AND 90S ACROSS
THE EASTERN HALF OF KANSAS. THE INCREASED HUMIDITY GAVE WAY
TO HEAT INDICES IN THE UPPER 90S TO LOW 100S.

A FEW THUNDERSTORM CLUSTERS ARE EXPECTED TO MOVE EAST TO SOUTHEAST
ACROSS MAINLY THE WESTERN HALF OF KANSAS PRIMARILY BEFORE MIDNIGHT.
WHILE WIDESPREAD SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT EXPECTED...A HANDFUL OF
STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS AND LOCALLY
VERY HEAVY RAINFALL. FORECAST LOW TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE 70S FOR
MOST LOCATIONS.

HOT AND MUGGY CONDITIONS WILL PREVAIL ACROSS MUCH OF THE REGION
FRIDAY...AS AN UPPER LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE CONTINUES TO BUILD
NORTH ACROSS MID-AMERICA. FORECAST HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE IN THE 90S
TO LOW 100S...WITH DANGEROUS HEAT INDICES IN THE 105 TO 110 DEGREE
RANGE LIKELY DURING THE AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING.
ADDITIONALLY...A FEW LATE AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE OVER
NORTHWEST AND NORTHERN KANSAS AND NEBRASKA...AS A COLD FRONT
APPROACHES FROM THE NORTH. A HANDFUL OF STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS ARE
POSSIBLE.
