Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central for Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
311 AM CDT Wed May 1 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Chances of showers and thunderstorms will persist this morning
and the rest of the day, with wetting precipitation expected
across all of western and north central Nebraska. Thursday
afternoon, following the passage of a cold front, strong
northwesterly winds around 20 to 25 miles per hour are expected,
with gusts in excess of 35 miles per hour. This will coincide with
areas of minimum relative humidity around 20 percent. This may
lead to some elevated fire weather conditions, with the main
question being how much the recent precipitation will impact fire
weather conditions.

Chances of precipitation remain almost every day through mid next
week, with a slight break from precipitation chances Saturday
morning through Sunday afternoon. At this time, expecting that
relative humidity values will remain above critical thresholds
during this period as well.
