193 FNUS53 KMQT 050947 FWFMQT FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN National Weather Service Marquette MI 547 AM EDT Sun May 5 2024 ...High pressure yields a dry period... .DISCUSSION: High pressure builds in over the Great Lakes through Monday morning, shifting east toward southern Ontario through Monday evening as it weakens. This results in a dry period with efficient mixing. Minimum RHs are expected in the 30s, however some upper 20s are possible near the Wisconsin/Michigan state line. With recent precipitation as well as stronger winds above 15 mph only expected in areas where RHs will be above critical thresholds, no fire weather concerns are expected today. Some lake breezes likely will develop this afternoon. Monday will be warmer with more widespread lower RHs. That being said, winds are expected to be even lighter keeping fire weather concerns at bay. The best chances for borderline elevated conditions will be over the interior west. Stronger lake breezes are expected to develop again during the afternoon. Chances for showers return on Tuesday accompanied by some breezy winds.
