Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
228 PM CDT Sat May 11 2024

.DISCUSSION...

After a mostly cloudy night, tomorrow will see an increase in showers
and storms from the west, impacting east Texas fire districts into the
morning and spreading across the remainder of the ArkLaTex through
the afternoon. A few storms may become severe, especially across areas
along and south of US Hwy 84. Hail and damaging winds will be the primary
threats, as well as locally heavy rainfall capable of causing flash
flooding, especially in deep east Texas. Minimum relative humidity values
will fall into the 60 to 70 percent range, while mixing heights climb
to between 1500 and 3000 ft early in the afternoon, dropping with
incoming storms. Winds from the east will not much exceed 5 to 10 kts
this afternoon, becoming light and variable overnight and assuming a
southeasterly direction tomorrow.
