...HIGH SURF CONDITIONS FOR THE CENTRAL COAST THIS EVENING
THROUGH SUNDAY...

...ELEVATED SURF AND STRONG RIP CURRENTS FOR LOS ANGELES AND
VENTURA BEACHES SUNDAY...

.A BUILDING WESTERLY SWELL WILL MOVE INTO THE COASTAL WATERS
TONIGHT...AND PERSIST THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS WESTERLY SWELL
WILL BRING HIGH SURF CONDITIONS TO THE CENTRAL COAST TONIGHT AND
SUNDAY...AND ELEVATED SURF CONDITIONS TO THE WEST FACING BEACHES
OF VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES COUNTIES ON SUNDAY. ALONG WITH THE
HIGH SURF...DANGEROUS RIP AND LONG-SHORE CURRENTS POTENTIAL WILL
INCREASE.

* SURF...SURF 8 TO 10 FEET WITH MAX SETS TO 12 FEET...LARGEST ON
  WEST TO NORTHWEST FACING BEACHES.

* TIMING...SURF WILL INCREASE THIS EVENING...PEAK ON SUNDAY THEN
  DIMINISH SUNDAY EVENING.

* IMPACTS...DANGEROUS SWIMMING AND SURF CONDITIONS AND A HIGH
  RISK OF RIP CURRENTS. SNEAKER WAVES...WHICH ARE MUCH LARGER
  WAVES THAT CAN SUDDENLY INUNDATE JETTIES...ROCKS...AND BEACHES
  NEAR THE WATERS EDGE...CAN PRESENT A LIFE-THREATENING HAZARD.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A HIGH SURF ADVISORY MEANS THAT HIGH SURF WILL AFFECT BEACHES IN
THE ADVISORY AREA...PRODUCING RIP CURRENTS AND LOCALIZED BEACH
EROSION.

REMEMBER...IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...SWIM PARALLEL TO SHORE
UNTIL YOU ARE FREE OF THE POWERFUL CURRENT. ALWAYS SWIM NEAR A
LIFEGUARD.

* HAZARDS AND TIMING...SURF WILL BUILD TO 4 TO 6 FEET WITH LOCAL
  SETS TO 8 FEET ON EXPOSED WEST FACING BEACHES...ALONG WITH AN
  INCREASING RISK OF STRONG RIP CURRENTS AND LONG-SHORE CURRENTS.

* IMPACTS...THE ELEVATED SURF WILL LEAD TO DANGEROUS SWIMMING
  AND HAZARDOUS SURF CONDITIONS FOR INEXPERIENCED SURFERS...AND
  AN INCREASED LIKELIHOOD OF DANGEROUS CURRENTS IN THE SURF
  ZONE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IS ISSUED WHEN THREATS TO BEACH AND
SURF ZONE SAFETY ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. CAUTION SHOULD BE
USED WHEN IN OR NEAR THE WATER. STAY NEAR OCCUPIED LIFEGUARD
TOWERS AND NEVER SWIM ALONE. IF CAUGHT IN A RIP CURRENT...SWIM
PARALLEL TO THE SHORE.
