THE MONTHLY AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS ABOVE NORMAL. MONTHLY
PRECIPITATION WAS WELL BELOW NORMAL...AND RANKED AS THE
3RD DRIEST JUNE ON RECORD.

JUNE 2017 BEGAN WITH A RECORD DRY PERIOD. ONLY A TRACE OF RAINFALL
WAS OBSERVED FROM THE 1ST THROUGH THE 15TH. THIS IS ONLY THE 3RD
TIME ON RECORD NO MEASURABLE RAINFALL WAS OBSERVED DURING THE FIRST
HALF OF JUNE (ALSO HAPPENED IN 1976 AND 1967)...AND THE SECOND
LONGEST STREAK OF CONSECUTIVE DAYS WITHOUT MEASURABLE RAINFALL IN
JUNE (LONGEST STREAK WAS 17 DAYS JUNE 1-17 1967).

A RECORD DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 95 WAS SET ON THE 12TH...TYING
THE RECORD PREVIOUSLY SET IN 2002...1986...1942...1938...1914 AND
1880.

A RECORD DAILY WARM LOW TEMPERATURE OF 75 DEGREES WAS SET ON THE
13TH...TYING THE RECORD PREVIOUSLY SET IN 2015...2005...1984 AND
1981.

CLIMATE RECORDS HAVE BEEN KEPT AT RONALD REAGAN WASHINGTON NATIONAL
AIRPORT SINCE AUGUST OF 1941. ADDITIONAL TEMPERATURE RECORDS FOR THE
WASHINGTON DC AREA OBSERVED DOWNTOWN EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY OF 1872.
PRECIPITATION RECORDS EXTEND BACK TO JANUARY OF 1871. SNOWFALL
RECORDS BEGAN IN JANUARY OF 1884.
