..Data for North Little Rock for January 2018...

.Summary...
Cold weather at the end of December continued into January. In fact,
North Little Rock saw some of the coldest weather in several
decades. There were a few periods warmer than average, mainly during
the second and fourth weeks. The coldest periods were from the 1st
through the 7th, and the 12th through the 19th, when daily
temperatures were as much as 10-25 degrees below average. The month
ended a little over three and a half degrees below average. By
average temperature, though, this January was the coldest in 30
years. For the first January since 2015, North Little Rock recorded
single-digit temperatures. Not only that, the low of 7 above zero on
the 17th was the coldest temperature recorded at North Little Rock
since February of 1996.

Rainfall was below average, but this was still the wettest January
in two years.

Snowfall was close to average. This was the most snowfall during the
month in two years.

.Monthly Temperatures...
The average high temperature was the coldest since 2010. The average
low temperature was the coldest since 2014, and the 8th coldest on
record. The average monthly temperature was the coldest since 1988,
and the 9th coldest on record.

.Daily Temperatures...
Daily temperatures were above average on 14 days, and below average
on 17 days.

There were five days with high temperatures at or below freezing,
which was the most since 2011.

There were 19 days with low temperatures at or below freezing, which
was the most since 2014.

There were three days with single-digit temperatures, which was the
most for the month since 1982, and the 3rd highest for the month
since records began. This also makes for the most single-digit
temperatures in a given year since 1989 (at least so far).

high temperature on record for the month of January, most recently tying
January 18, 1994.

On the 1st, the high temperature was 23 degrees. This most recently tied
January 12, 1997 for the 7th coldest high temperature on record for the month
of January.

Even though rainfall was below average, it was still the wettest
January since 2016.

It was the snowiest January since 2016. Also, the average snow depth
for the month was the most since 2016.

.Miscellaneous Phenomena...
On the 1st, the sea level pressure rose to 30.90 inches. This set an all-time record
high pressure for the month of January. The previous record was 30.86 inches, which
was set on January 7, 2015. This also ranks as the 2nd highest pressure since records
began, tying a reading of 30.90 on December 23, 1989.

On the 22nd, a wind gust of 42 MPH was recorded during a strong thunderstorm. This was
the highest wind gust recorded during January since January 29, 2008.
