NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOKANE WA

...FLOOD RISK ON THE OKANOGAN AND PEND ORIELLE RIVERS IS HIGH DUE
TO MELTING OF HIGH ELEVATION SNOWPACK IN THE EAST CASCADES AND
ROCKY MOUNTAINS...

A PROLONGED PERIOD OF ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED
TODAY INTO NEXT WEEK. THE WARM WEATHER WILL INCREASE THE RATE OF
HIGH ELEVATION SNOW MELT. OVERNIGHT TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN WELL
ABOVE FREEZING...EVEN IN THE HIGH ELEVATIONS. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT
RISES WILL OCCUR ON THE OKANOGAN AND PEND ORIELLE RIVERS.

FOR THE OKANOGAN RIVER...ANOTHER ROUND OF MINOR FLOODING IS
EXPECTED NEXT WEEK. THE RIVER MAY EXCEED THE FLOOD STAGE OF 15
FEET BY WEDNESDAY...AND REMAIN ABOVE FLOOD STAGE FOR A WEEK OR
MORE. THE OKANOGAN RIVER IS MAINLY FED BY SNOWMELT FROM THE
SIMILKAMEEN RIVER BASIN IN CANADA. FOR THE LATEST FORECAST AND
FLOODING IMPACTS VISIT

FOR THE PEND OREILLE RIVER BELOW ALBENI FALLS DAM...A STEADY RISE
OF THE RIVER IS EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT 7 TO 10 DAYS. THE MOST
RECENT FORECAST SUGGESTS THAT THE RIVER WILL APPROACH THE NEW
FLOOD FLOW OF 95,000 CUBIC FEET PER SECOND LATE IN THE WEEK. THE
FLOOD FLOW WAS RECENTLY CHANGED TO 95,000CFS FROM THE OLD FLOOD
FLOW OF 100,000CFS. THE PEND OREILLE RIVER IS MAINLY FED BY
SNOWMELT FROM THE ROCKY MOUNTAINS IN MONTANA. FOR THE LATEST
FORECAST AND FLOODING IMPACTS VISIT
