THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BINGHAMTON HAS ISSUED AN

* SMALL STREAM FLOOD ADVISORY FOR...
  NORTHWESTERN STEUBEN COUNTY...

* UNTIL 330 AM EDT.

* AT 1225 AM EDT...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED HEAVY RAIN WAS FALLING...
  AND WILL RESULT IN MINOR FLOODING OF SMALL STREAMS...CREEKS...AND
  POOR DRAINAGE AREAS.

* LOCATIONS IN THE ADVISORY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO ARKPORT...
  ATLANTA...COHOCTON...FREMONT...HASKINVILLE...HOWARD...NORTH
  HORNELL...PERKINSVILLE...SOUTH DANSVILLE...WAYLAND AND STONY BROOK
  STATE PARK.

THUNDERSTORMS WILL VERY HEAVY RAINFALL ARE MOVING THROUGH NORTHWEST
STEUBEN COUNTY AND WILL CAUSE RAPID RISES ON STREAMS AND CREEKS AND
LEAD TO FLOODING OF POOR DRAINAGE AND LOW-LYING AREAS. THERE WILL
ALSO BE SIGNIFICANT PONDING OF WATER ON ROADWAYS AND VERY POOR
VISBILITY WITH THIS HEAVY RAIN. EXPECT THE HEAVY RAIN TO LIFT NORTH
OF THIS AREA BETWEEN 1 AND 130 PM.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD ADVISORY MEANS THAT ALTHOUGH STREAMS AND CREEKS MAY BE
ELEVATED OR EVEN RISE OUT OF THEIR BANKS...PROPERTY DAMAGE WILL BE
MINIMAL. INCONVENIENCES CAN BE EXPECTED BUT THE FLOODING WILL NOT BE
IMMEDIATELY LIFE THREATENING.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODS.
