Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southeast Texas
National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX
433 AM CDT Tue Oct 24 2017

.DISCUSSION...
A cold front has pushed through much of the area early this
morning bringing more dry air to the area. Elevated fire weather
conditions will develop as minimum relative humidity values of
around 20 to 25 percent will combine with winds of 15 to 20 mph
during the afternoon. There could be higher gusts to around 25
mph. Areas dominated by heavier fuels will have conditions
mitigated by recent rainfall. Areas with dominant light fuels will
have to be aware that fires may spread more rapidly in these
conditions. The scenario will improve some on Wednesday as much
lighter winds are expected; however, humidity values will still
fall to between 25 and 30 percent in the afternoon. Additionally,
overnight recovery of humidity will be lower than may typically
be expected. Onshore winds will help raise humidity levels at the
coast on Thursday, though drier conditions will likely persist far
inland until Friday. Another cold front is slated to push through
on Friday.
