Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
259 PM PDT Sun Aug 20 2017

.DISCUSSION...Isolated thunderstorms are a possible each afternoon
through Monday, focused across the mountains, mainly for Ventura
and Santa Barbara Counties. The main concern with any thunderstorms
that form is the potential for fire starts from lightning,
especially with the dry fuels in place. Elevated fire weather
conditions are possible late Monday into Tuesday across the Los
Angeles County Mountains as humidities fall well into the teens with
southeasterly winds gust up to around 30 mph.

Onshore flow will gradually weaken through the week as a weak trough
aloft is gradually replaced by a weak ridge. This will support
gradual warming for the first half of the week with more significant
warming possible later in the week. The warmer temperatures combined
with a receding marine layer will also support an overall drying
trend away from the coast.
