FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
901 AM PDT WED MAY 4 2016

...HIGH CASCADES THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE TODAY...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...FAIR AMOUNT OF SHOWER ACTIVITY ACROSS THE
REGION TODAY BUT CAN`T COMPLETELY RULE OUT THUNDERSTORM MAINLY
ALONG THE OREGON HIGH CASCADES. LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPS SOUTH OF
THE REGION THURSDAY THROUGH THE WEEKEND FOR PROBABLY DRY WEATHER
ALTHOUGH SOME WEAK INSTABILITY MAY WRAP AROUND AND BRING SHOWERS
TO LANE COUNTY.

.DISCUSSION...PLENTY OF SHOWERS ACTIVITY ALONG WITH EMBEDDED
THUNDERSTORMS ARE OCCURRING OVER NORCAL AND SOUTHERN OREGON. THIS
ACTIVITY WILL MOVE NORTH TODAY, BUT THEY WILL ENCOUNTER A SOMEWHAT
MORE STABLE ENVIRONMENT NORTH OF THE UMPQUA DIVIDE AND WEST OF THE
CASCADES. STILL EXPECT SOME SPOTTY WETTING RAINS BUT THUNDERSTORMS
SHOULD BE CONFINED MORE TO THE HIGH CASCADES, IF THEY OCCUR AT
ALL.

THE UPPER LOW PRESSURE WILL DIVE SOUTH THROUGH THURSDAY WITH HIGH
PRESSURE NOSING OVER THE TOP FROM THE PACIFIC TO BRING MILD AND
DRY WEATHER FOR THE UPCOMING WEEKEND. SO FAR...IT DOES NOT APPEAR
LIKE WE WILL SEE A SIGNIFICANT THERMAL TROUGH DEVELOP NOR AND
OFFSHORE WIND EVENT TO REALLY SPIKE TEMPERATURES. BUT SUBTLE SHORT
WAVES MAY WRAP AROUND THE NORTH SIDE OF THE LOW AND BRING SOME
WEAK INSTABILITY AND SHOWERS...MAINLY TO THE LANE COUNTY CASCADES.
