Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
215 PM PDT Fri Apr 28 2017

...BRIEF DRYING TREND THROUGH SATURDAY...
...ANOTHER FRONTAL SYSTEM SATURDAY NIGHT...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...High pressure will continue building over
the area tonight and early Saturday. The upper ridge moves east of
the region by Saturday afternoon. The next front moves through the
district Saturday night and Sunday morning. Warmer and drier weather
returns for the middle and latter half of next week.

.DISCUSSION...High pressure centered offshore will slowly drift east
tonight and Saturday. The ridge moves east of the area by late
Saturday afternoon. The next frontal system moves through the area
Saturday night and Sunday morning. The last couple models runs have
sped up the timing of this next front. Latest guidance shows
precipitation reaching the north coast zones as early as late
Saturday afternoon. Moderate onshore low-level flow accompanies the
front for breezy to windy conditions in the Central Columbia River
Gorge Sunday. Slightly below-normal daytime temperatures can be
expected the first part of next week with continued onshore flow.
However, longer range models show a return to warmer and drier
conditions around the middle of next week. However, latest guidance
is hinting at a weaker ridge compared to model runs of the previous
couple days. Longer range models are also in general agreement
showing a return to below-normal daytime temperatures late
next week.
