SUMMARY OF FWF DISCUSSIONS

Discussion from LAXFWFSGX

SLOW DECREASING OF MONSOONAL MOISTURE WILL CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY.
WEST OF THE MOUNTAINS...ONSHORE FLOW AND A WEAK COASTAL EDDY WILL
BRING MINOR DEEPENING OF THE MARINE LAYER AND SLOW COOLING INTO
THURSDAY. FOR FRIDAY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK...HIGH PRESSURE TO THE
EAST WILL BEGIN TO STRENGTHEN AND EXPAND WESTWARD...BRINGING WARMING
AND A SHALLOWER MARINE LAYER. FOR SUNDAY INTO EARLY NEXT
WEEK...SOUTHEAST FLOW ALOFT WILL BRING INCREASING AMOUNTS OF
MONSOONAL MOISTURE INTO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WITH THE CHANCE OF
THUNDERSTORMS FOR SUNDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

Discussion from LAXFWFLOX

INCREASING ONSHORE FLOW AND A DEEPENING MARINE LAYER DEPTH
WILL CONTINUE TO BRING A SLIGHT COOLING TREND TO MOST AREAS THROUGH
THURSDAY. THE MOUNTAINS...DESERTS...AND INTERIOR VALLEYS WILL CONTINUE
TO BE QUITE DRY...WITH HUMIDITIES IN THE TEENS AND ISOLATED READINGS
IN SINGLE DIGITS. THESE SAME AREAS WILL ALSO SEE ONSHORE WINDS
GUSTING TO BETWEEN 25 AND 35 MPH EACH AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY...WITH
ISOLATED GUSTS AS HIGH AS 45 MPH IN THE FOOTHILLS OF THE ANTELOPE
VALLEY. THE COMBINATION OF GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITIES
WILL BRING ISOLATED AND BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
EACH AFTERNOON OVER INTERIOR AREAS THROUGH THURSDAY. AS HIGH PRESSURE
OVER THE DESERT SOUTHWEST BEGINS TO BUILD WESTWARD TOWARDS SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA...A WARMING TREND IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA
OVER THE WEEKEND. FROM SUNDAY THROUGH TUESDAY...A SURGE OF SUBTROPICAL
MOISTURE IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS OF SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA. THE TIMING AND AREAL EXTENT OF THIS MOISTURE SURGE IS STILL
IN QUESTION...BUT THE GREATEST THREAT AT THIS TIME APPEARS TO BE
MONDAY INTO TUESDAY.

Discussion from SFOFWFHNX

MONSOON MOISTURE OVER THE DISTRICT WILL BRING A
THREAT OF AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE SIERRA NEVADA EACH DAY
THROUGH THURSDAY. BEGINNING FRIDAY SOUTHWEST FLOW ALOFT WILL KEEP
THE MOISTURE EAST OF THE SIERRA BRINGING DRIER CONDITIONS.
OTHERWISE...HIGH PRESSURE WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE ABOVE NORMAL
TEMPERATURES FOR MUCH OF THE FORECAST PERIOD AND WINDS REMAIN MOSTLY
LIGHT AND TERRAIN DRIVEN.

Discussion from RNOFWFVEF

MUCH OF THE AREA WILL STILL HAVE PLENTY OF MONSOON
MOISTURE AND THUNDERSTORM CHANCES TODAY INTO TONIGHT. A FEW STORMS
COULD PRODUCE VERY HEAVY RAIN LEADING TO LOCALIZED FLASH FLOODING.
DRYING WILL TAKE PLACE FROM WEST TO EAST DURING THE END OF THE WEEK
WITH THUNDERSTORM CHANCES LIMITED TO MOHAVE COUNTY BY FRIDAY AND
SATURDAY.

Discussion from PHXFWFPSR

ELEVATED HUMIDITIES WILL REMAIN IN PLACE ACROSS THE ENTIRE REGION
THROUGH THURSDAY AS MONSOON FLOW PERSISTS. ISOLATED TO SCATTERED
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE COMMON OVER THE LOWER DESERTS EAST
OF THE LOWER COLORADO RIVER VALLEY...WITH MORE NUMEROUS STORMS OVER
THE HIGHER TERRAIN AREAS. STORMS WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING STRONG
GUSTY WINDS...BUT OTHERWISE WINDS WILL BE LIGHT AND WILL FAVOR
TYPICAL DIURNAL PATTERNS.

...THUNDERSTORMS IMPLY GUSTY WINDS...

NOTE...ADDITIONAL FIRE WEATHER FORECAST INFORMATION CAN BE FOUND
IN THE AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION. SEE PRODUCT PHXAFDPSR.
