HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION

...FLOOD POTENTIAL...

THE LOCALLY HEAVY RAIN OVER THE EASTERN PRINCE WILLIAM SOUND TO THE
YAKUTAT AREA HAS ENDED... BUT SHOWERS CONTINUE IN THE AREA.  STREAMS
AND RIVERS IN VALDEZ/CORDOVA REGION ARE EXPECTED TO FALL SLOWLY
TONIGHT.

CONTINUED SHOWERS IN THE SEWARD AREA WILL KEEP STREAM LEVELS HIGH.
HIGH WATER LEVELS... DUE TO RECENT RAIN... ARE MOVING DOWN THE KENAI
RIVER.

HIGH WATER ALONG THE YENTNA RIVER HAS BEGUN TO FALL.

FLOOD POTENTIAL IS LOW OVER THE REST OF THE STATE.

...HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL DISCUSSION...

THE UPPER LEVEL PATTERN HAS A BROAD TROUGH OVER MUCH OF THE MAINLAND
AND BERING SEA... WITH A LOW NEAR BRISTOL BAY AND MULTIPLE WAVES
MOVING AROUND THE TROUGH.  ONE WAVE... AND THE ASSOCIATED SCATTERED
RAIN... IS MOVING NORTH THROUGH THE INTERIOR TODAY.  A FRONT
ASSOCIATED WITH THE BRISTOL BAY LOW IS MOVING INLAND OVER
SOUTHCENTRAL/NORTH GULF COAST TODAY... AND ANOTHER LOW IS DEVELOPING
NORTH OF THE CENTRAL ALEUTIANS.

THIS MORNING FREEZING LEVELS WERE 5500-5700 FT OVER THE SOUTHWEST
MAINLAND AND WEST COASTAL REGIONS... RISING TO 7000-8600 OVER THE
REST OF THE MAINLAND... AND TO 12200 FT OVER SOUTHERN SOUTHEAST.
OVER THE NEXT 48 HOUR FREEZING LEVELS ARE EXPECTED TO FALL OVER MOST
OF THE STATE.

THE 6 TO 10 DAY TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED CHANCES OF ABOVE
NORMAL TEMPERATURES OVER THE SOUTHERN HALF OF THE MAINLAND AND OVER
SOUTHEAST ALASKA.

THE 6 TO 10 DAY PRECIPITATION OUTLOOK HAS INCREASED CHANCES FOR
ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION OVER THE NORTH SLOPE AND BROOKS RANGE...
AND OVER THE PANHANDLE.  THERE ARE INCREASED CHANCES FOR BELOW
NORMAL PRECIPITATION OVER THE SOUTHWEST MAINLAND AND KENAI PENINSULA.
