...HIGH WIND WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM TO 11 PM PDT
FRIDAY...

* WINDS...West to northwest sustained winds of 35-45 mph,
  gusting to 65 mph. Locally higher gusts are possible around
  Secret Pass and the immediate eastern slopes of the mountain
  range.

* TIMING...The strongest winds will occur along and behind the
  cold front Friday morning and persist through the afternoon.
  Winds will subside around sunset.

* IMPACTS...Minor tree damage may occur in the Ruby Mountains and
  areas immediately adjacent to the eastern slopes. Dangerous and
  sudden cross winds are possible along portions of Secret Pass
  and Harrison pass road.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 11 PM PDT FRIDAY...

The National Weather Service in Elko has issued a Wind Advisory...
which is in effect from 9 AM to 11 PM PDT Friday.

* WINDS...Sustained 20-30 mph, gusting to 50 mph. Locally higher
  gusts may occur along the eastern slopes of mountain ranges.

* TIMING...The strongest winds will occur along and behind the
  cold front Friday morning and persist through the afternoon.
  Winds will subside around sunset.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous and sudden cross winds are possible along
  portions of Interstate 80 and Alternate US Highway 93.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 mph with gusts
in excess of 45 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make
driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use
extra caution.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous and sudden cross winds are possible along
  portions of Ruby Valley Road, Interstate 80, US 93, and
  Alternate US Highway 93.

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 AM PDT FRIDAY...

* WINDS...Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 55 mph. Very
  localized wind gusts around 60 mph are possible across western
  Humboldt county as well as higher summits and passes.

* TIMING...Gusty winds will continue into the evening, but the
  strongest winds will occur just ahead, along, and behind the
  cold front early Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...Motorists should exercise caution while driving in
  the wind advisory area. Be alert to sudden gusts of wind
  which may cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Extra
  attention should be given to cross winds when driving on
  north to south oriented roads.
