...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MST THIS EVENING...

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a High
Wind Warning...which is in effect until 9 PM MST this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...Northern Utah County including Alpine and Lehi.

* WINDS...Northwest winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts in excess of
  60 mph.

* TIMING...Developing around 6 PM with the passage of a cold
  front, and continuing into the early evening before diminishing
  around 9 PM.

* IMPACTS...Strong cross winds can be expected along east-west
  roads. Loose items including trampolines, garbage cans, etc...,
  may become airborne and should be secured.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or is occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage. Vehicles,
especially high profile vehicles, can be difficult to control at
times in high winds. Motorists should take extra caution,
especially while crossing bridges, overpasses, and unsheltered
areas.

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM MST THIS EVENING...

* AFFECTED AREA...The western valleys of Utah including the Salt
  Lake and Tooele Valleys.

* WINDS...South winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts in excess of 50
  mph ahead of a cold front across west central and southwest
  Utah. Northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph
  behind the front across the Salt Lake and Tooele Valleys along
  with northwest Utah.

* TIMING...Winds will remain strong into the early evening before
  diminishing.

* IMPACTS...Strong cross winds will affect east-west oriented
  routes including I-80 across northwest Utah and Highway 50
  across west central Utah. Light weight and high profile
  vehicles should use extra caution.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least
31 mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected. Motorists in the advisory
area should be prepared for sudden gusty cross winds which can
make driving difficult.
