Fire Weather Planning Forecast for New Mexico and Far West Texas
National Weather Service El Paso TX/Santa Teresa NM
603 AM MDT Wed May 8 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

Another day of deep westerly flow across the region, leading to warm,
dry, and breezy to windy afternoon conditions. This will mean another
day of Red Flag Warnings for all fire zones. Slightly warmer than normal
temperatures, single-digit relative humidity, and westerly winds in the
15 to 25 mph range with higher gusts are expected. Thus elevated to
critical fire weather conditions today. Tomorrow remains warm and dry,
but winds drop off to breezy to slightly ease fire weather concerns. Most
of the area will stay warm and dry through the weekend. Some moisture will
move in over the Sacs Friday and Saturday to temporarily ease conditions.
