Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
215 PM MDT Tue May 7 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR
SOUTHERN LINCOLN COUNTY...FIRE WEATHER ZONE 247...

.DISCUSSION...Tonight and Wednesday...Critical fire conditions will be
in place due to very windy conditions and low humidity over
southeast Elbert and southern Lincoln counties into the early
evening hours.

Snow will continue to fall in the mountains with
blustery conditions at times. Windy conditions will prevail
tonight and tomorrow across much of the region but slowly decrease
as we head into Wednesday afternoon. Winds should shift more
towards the WNW by Wednesday afternoon as well. Continues snow
showers across the northern mountains are possible, 50%, and maybe
an isolated shower or thunderstorm across the plains, 20%.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Wednesday night through Sunday...
A quieter weather pattern will prevail with lighter winds for
this entire period. Temperatures will remain cooler than normal
through Thursday, with scattered rain and snow showers in place.
Somewhat drier conditions will likely develop Thursday night into
Friday, with temperatures returning to near normal levels by
Friday.

For the weekend, temperatures will likely exhibit a slow warming
trend. There is still uncertainty about a potential weak weather
system, but enough to keep a chance of afternoon and evening
showers and isolated thunderstorms in the forecast for now.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
