...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR 09/09/16 TORNADO EVENT...

.OVERVIEW...Four tornadoes occurred in east central
Illinois during the evening of September 9th, between
630 pm and 730 pm. One tornado occurred in southeast
Champaign County, one was in western Clark County,
and two were in eastern Vermilion County.

SURVEY SUMMARY:
The tornado touched down in a field 3.4 miles south of
Sidney at 633 pm CDT. The tornado damaged corn and bean
fields as it tracked to the east-northeast. The tornado
continued through fields for about 2 miles before damaging
the roof of a house and destroying a garage and large shed.
A car and a large RV were also damaged. A barn was destroyed
less than one mile away, before the tornado moved into a
cemetery. Several headstones and two trees were damaged.
The tornado slightly turned more toward the east knocking
over trees along 800 North road. The tornado then did the
greatest damage to a farmstead where it destroyed three
outbuildings and pushed a house off of its foundation, which
caused it to collapse. The tornado dissipated about one-half
mile to the east northeast in a field.

SURVEY SUMMARY:
The tornado touched down in a field about 1.4 miles south
of Casey, Illinois. The tornado stayed in the field and
damaged crops before dissipating after one-tenth of a mile.

SURVEY SUMMARY:
The tornado touched down 3.5 miles southwest of Bismark,
Illinois at 634 pm CDT. The tornado moved northeast for 1.7
miles and damaged some trees, took shingles off the roof
of a house, and blew over one camper. The tornado dissipated
at 643 pm CDT 2.4 miles south of Bismark, Illinois.

SURVEY SUMMARY:
The tornado touched down in a field about 2 miles southwest
of Catlin, Illinois. The tornado stayed in the field and
did minor damaged to some crops before dissipating after
one-tenth of a mile.

into the following categories.

EF0...Weak......65 to 85 mph
EF1...Weak......86 to 110 mph
EF2...Strong....111 to 135 mph
