.DISCUSSION...
ERCs 90th percentile or higher west of Pecos River today through
end of next week yield critically dry fuels. Extent and amount of
rainfall today into Sunday determine eastward extent of fire
danger next week. Rangeland Fire Danger Statement has been issued
for this afternoon through evening for Sacramento Foothills into
Chaves, Eddy and Lea Counties in New Mexico and Guadalupe
Mountains into eastern Culberson County in West Texas. Poor
overnight recovery and decreasing dew points, and min RH at or
below critical 15% much of the area Monday afternoon into Thursday
further dries out fuels. Near critical fire weather is expected
west of Pecos River over southwesternmost Southeast New Mexico
Plains and West Texas today and this weekend, and critical fire
weather Monday into Thursday afternoons, before lighter northerly
winds and increased RH and dewpoints next Friday behind a cold
front decrease fire risk.
