Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
313 AM CDT Fri Apr 26 2024

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

Today serves as an "in between" day with much lighter winds
expected. Near-critical conditions are expected with very dry air
and elevated winds limited to the far northern zones. An RFD is in
effect for southeast New Mexico southward through the Big Bend for
this afternoon. Much stronger winds pickup for Saturday with dry
conditions lingering and a Fire Weather Watch has been issued for
zones along and south of the Pecos River. Fire concerns relax
after Saturday as winds drop off and better moisture moves in for
mid-week.
