...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM AST THURSDAY...

* WHAT...River flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...Cabo Rojo, Hormigueros and Mayaguez.

* WHEN...Until 100 AM AST.

* IMPACTS...Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not
  be passable. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.
  It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to
  work through local drainage systems in urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 849 PM AST, The Rio Guanajibo at Hormigueros continues
    above minor flood stage. Runoff from this afternoon heavy
    rainfall across San German and vicinity will maintain the
    river above flood stage and flood waters will continue to
    affect portions of roads 114, 309, and 347. Therefore, the
    Flood Warning was extended.
  - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
    expected.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
