FRIDAY...

A TOTAL OF 5.59 INCHES OF RAIN WAS REPORTED AT ABRAHAM LINCOLN
CAPITAL AIRPORT IN SPRINGFIELD ON FRIDAY. THE FOLLOWING RECORDS HAVE
BEEN SET.

* A NEW RECORD FOR AUGUST 12 WAS SET...BREAKING THE OLD RECORD
  OF 2.94 INCHES IN 1999.

* THE TOTAL ALSO BROKE THE AUGUST RECORD FOR A SINGLE CALENDAR
  DAY. THE OLD RECORD OF 4.40 INCHES WAS SET AUGUST 2 1981.

* THE TOTAL WAS THE MOST TO EVER FALL IN A SINGLE CALENDAR DAY
  IN ANY MONTH. THE OLD RECORD OF 5.44 INCHES WAS SET ON
  SEPTEMBER 8 1926. NOTE THAT THE ALL-TIME RECORD FOR ANY
  24-HOUR PERIOD STILL STANDS (6.12 INCHES ON DECEMBER 2-3 1982).
