...COASTAL FLOOD THREAT TO CONTINUE FOR THE OUTER BANKS THIS
MORNING...

.LINGERING VERY LARGE SWELLS ASSOCIATED WITH SUNDAY`S LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO IMPACT THE OUTER BANKS THROUGH
TUESDAY. THESE SWELLS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE HIGH TIDE THIS MORNING
WILL LEAD TO OCEAN OVERWASH AND BEACH EROSION ESPECIALLY ALONG
HATTERAS ISLAND. PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 12 IN THE USUAL VULNERABLE
LOCATIONS COULD BECOME WATER COVERED AROUND THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE.

* LOCATION...THE USUAL VULNERABLE AREAS ALONG THE OCEAN SIDE OF
  HATTERAS ISLAND VULNERABLE TO OCEAN OVERWASH AND EROSION FROM
  LARGE SWELLS.

* COASTAL FLOODING...OCEAN OVERWASH IS THE MAIN CONCERN AROUND THE
  TIME OF HIGH TIDE THIS MORNING. LARGE SWELLS IMPACTING THE
  BEACHES COULD PRODUCE EROSION AND OCEAN OVERWASH. WATER COULD
  BRIEFLY COVER PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 12 IN THE USUAL AREAS
  SUSCEPTIBLE TO OCEAN OVERWASH FROM LARGE SWELLS.

* TIMING...THIS MORNING AROUND 8 AM AT THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE.

* IMPACTS...OCEAN OVERWASH AND BEACH EROSION

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR
IMMINENT. COASTAL RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD BE ALERT
FOR RISING WATER...AND TAKE APPROPRIATE ACTION TO PROTECT LIFE
AND PROPERTY.

  COULD BRIEFLY COVER PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 12 IN AREAS WHERE THE
  DUNES HAVE BEEN BREACHED FROM SUNDAY`S STORM.

* TIMING...THIS MORNING AROUND 745 AM AT THE TIME OF HIGH TIDE.

* IMPACTS...MINOR OCEAN OVERWASH AND MINOR BEACH EROSION.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES
AND SWELL WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG
THE SHORE.
