...Potential for flooding along rivers and creeks draining the
Coast Range in Northwest and West Central Oregon and the Willapa
Hills in Southwest Washington...
Coastal rivers and Willamette Valley Tributaries draining the
coast range are expected to rise sharply Thursday through Friday
as a strong frontal system moves slowly across the area. Heavy
rain will begin late tonight along the North Coast, Willapa Hills
and the North Coast range...and continue into Thursday. Rainfall
totals of 3 to 4 inches along the coast and 4 to 8 inches in the
Coast Range and Willapa Hills are expected in a little over 24
Flooding is possible along some of these rivers and further
details regarding specific rivers of concern will be refined
today. In addition there could be some periods of heavy rain in
the Northern Willamette Valley and southwest Washington interior
which could result in small streams and urban areas having some
minor flooding problems.
A flood potential outlook is issued when there is the potential for
significant rises or flooding along rivers and creeks.
