...The National Weather Service in Gray has issued a flood warning
for the following rivers in Maine

  Kennebec River At Augusta affecting Kennebec County

.The Kennebec River at Augusta has risen above flood stage again this morning. Water continues to back up behind an ice jam downstream of Hallowell. It is expected that the water will fluctuate due to the ice jam and tides for the next couple of days before finally dropping
below flood stage for good. Ice jams are very unpredictable. People
living and working along the river from Augusta downstream should
remain alert for rapid fluctuations in water level.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive through flooded areas, it is impossible to know if the
road is safe for travel. Turn around, dont drown!

* Flood warning for
  the Kennebec River At Augusta
* From this morning until this evening.
* At 9AM the stage was 12.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.0 feet.
* The river will continue fluctuate due to the ice jam and tide cycles.
  The river will likely remain within a foot or 2 of flood stage
  for the next couple of days.
