FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL/NORTHERN VERMONT AND
NORTHERN NEW YORK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
424 AM EDT WED JUL 9 2014

...SCATTERED AFTERNOON STORMS TODAY THEN DRY THROUGH SATURDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
DRIER AIR HAS BEGUN TO FILTER INTO THE FORECAST AREA BEHIND A COLD
FRONT. A SECONDARY FRONT COUPLED WITH A DISTURBANCE IN THE FLOW
ALOFT WILL RESULT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. WITH THE PASSAGE OF THE
SECOND FRONT...SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD INTO THE REGION
OVERNIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY WITH DRY CONDITIONS. MINIMUM RELATIVE
HUMIDITY VALUES ON THURSDAY WILL DROP BELOW 40 PERCENT ACROSS MUCH
OF THE AREA. DRY CONDITIONS CONTINUE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY AS HIGH
PRESSURE REMAINS OVER THE NORTHEAST. SHOWERY WEATHER THEN RETURNS
SUNDAY...AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL LINGER INTO THE MIDDLE OF NEXT
WEEK.
