FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA
AND EAST CENTRAL GEORGIA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE COLUMBIA SC
235 PM EDT TUE JUL 26 2016

.DISCUSSION...AN UPPER-LEVEL RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL REMAIN
ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA TODAY THROUGH THURSDAY...WITH LARGE-SCALE
ATMOSPHERIC SUBSIDENCE OCCURRING. THIS WILL LIMIT THUNDERSTORM
DEVELOPMENT EACH DAY...WITH ONLY ISOLATED TO WIDELY SCATTERED
ACTIVITY EXPECTED MAINLY DURING THE MID-AFTERNOON THROUGH EVENING
HOURS OF MAXIMUM HEATING.

WITH SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE PARKED OFF THE COAST OF THE CAROLINAS
AND GEORGIA...AND A WEAK THERMAL TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE ACROSS THE
PIEDMONT...ENOUGH OF A PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL SUPPORT FAIR
DISPERSION TONIGHT. THIS FEATURE COMBINED WITH LIMITED LOW-LEVEL
MOISTURE WILL PREVENT ANY SIGNIFICANT FOG FROM DEVELOPING.

SURFACE WINDS WILL BE FROM THE SOUTHWEST 5 TO 10 MPH JUST AFTER SUNRISE
...THEN INCREASE TO 8 TO 12 MPH FOR THE AFTERNOON. TRANSPORT WINDS
WILL BE SOUTHWEST 10 TO 15 MPH WEDNESDAY AND INCREASE TO 20 MPH
THURSDAY WITH MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITIES 35 TO 40 PERCENT.
