Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
246 PM PDT Wed Aug 16 2017

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...Onshore flow will continue to bring near
normal temperatures this week, along with a fairly stable and
moist air mass. Terrain-driven winds will give way to west or
northwest winds each afternoon and evening; the strongest being on
today and Friday as weak disturbances clip along the Canadian
border.

.DISCUSSION...Weak to moderate onshore flow will continue for most
of the Pacific Northwest through the next 7 days. This will lead
to seasonable temperatures and relatively moist conditions. The
only exception will be for higher elevations above the temperature
inversion where some poor overnight recoveries are possible.
However, this is primarily above 4-5 kft. During the afternoon and
evenings, isolated gusty conditions are expected in coast range
gaps and the Columbia River Gorge as onshore flow strengthens. A
weak cold front will move through the area Friday night into
Saturday. This should deepen the marine layer and may even lead to
some drizzle Saturday morning. Warmer weather may return by early
next week as upper level ridging returns to the Pacific NW.
