SYNOPSIS...HIGH PRESSURE WILL PERSISTS ACROSS THE BEAUFORT AND
CHUKCHI SEAS THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING BEFORE A FRONTAL BOUNDARY
BEGINS TO MOVE INTO THE CHUKCHI SEA THURSDAY AFTERNOON. THIS FRONT
WILL STALL OVER THE CHUKCHI SEA ON FRIDAY BUT A SECOND FRONT COMING
THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING WILL PUSH ALL THE WAY INTO THE BEAUFORT SEA
BY SUNDAY.

THE MAIN ICE EDGE IN THE CHUKCHI SEA EXTENDS FROM 69.2N 163.4W TO
69.8N 164.5W TO 71.1N 159.1W TO 70.8N 163.2W TO 72.2N 164.8W TO
71.9N 172.7W TO 69.8N 176.2W TO 69.8N 178.0W TO 66.3N 169.6W TO THE
RUSSIAN COAST NEAR 66.0N 178.0W. THE ICE EDGE IS MAINLY OPEN WATER.

FORECAST THROUGH MONDAY FOR THE CHUKCHI SEA...MODERATE TO STRONG
SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL DEVELOP TONIGHT AND PERSIST THROUGH THE
FORECAST PERIOD. THE OVERALL ICE EDGE WILL SHIFT TO THE NORTHEAST 15
TO 25 NM THROUGH MONDAY WITH SEA ICE NEAR THE GULF OF ANADYR
BREAKING AWAY FROM THE COAST. ADDITIONALLY...KOTZEBUE SOUND COULD BE
ICE FREE WITHIN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO AS SEA ICE HAS RAPIDLY
DETERIORATED OVER THE PAST WEEK AND SHOULD CONTINUE TO DO SO UNDER
SOUTHERLY FLOW.
