...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1965, late night severe thunderstorms associated with
a strong cold front produced 100 mph straight line winds
in the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana.  Three nights
later, on August 29th, the temperature at Midway Airport
in Chicago plunged to 43 degrees to establish the coldest
temperature ever recorded at Midway Airport in the month
of August.
