...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 1979, a blizzard struck Cheyenne Wyoming, producing a
record 19.8 inches of snow in 24 hours at the forecast
office and a record total of 25.6 inches in 40 hours.
The strong winds produced huge drifts which brought all
transportation to a halt.  In 1981, a tornado struck
Concourse B at the brand new Hartsfield International
Airport in Atlanta.  It ripped an engine off a D C 8 and
damaged 20 other jets.The number of injuries is
unknown.
