IN 1984...THE CAROLINAS TORNADO OUTBREAK OCCURRED.
CONSISTING OF 22 TORNADOES OF WHICH 7 WERE VIOLENT
F4S...THE OUTBREAK KILLED 57 AND INJURED 1,248.  ONE F4
TORNADO THAT CROSSED THE SOUTH CAROLINA NORTH CAROLINA
BORDER POSSESSED A TRACK 16 MILES LONG AND AVERAGED 1.2
MILES WIDE.  AT ITS PEAK INTENSITY...THE MONSTROUS
TWISTER WAS 2.5 MILES WIDE! IN 1988...SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS OVER OKLAHOMA PRODUCED HAIL UP TO FOUR
INCHES IN DIAMETER CAUSING $35 MILLION DAMAGE IN SOUTHERN
OKLAHOMA.  BASEBALL SIZED HAIL AND 7 INCHES OF RAIN
CAUSED ANOTHER $18 MILLION DOLLARS DAMAGE IN DUNCAN
OKLAHOMA.
