PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK
NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
0724 PM CST SAT JAN 21 2017

...Severe thunderstorms expected over parts of the Gulf Coast States
overnight...

* LOCATIONS...
  Central and southern Alabama
  Western Georgia
  Western and central Florida Panhandle
  Southeastern Mississippi

* HAZARDS...
  Several tornadoes, a few intense
  Widespread large hail, some baseball size
  Scattered damaging winds

* SUMMARY...
  Severe storms are will persist and expand into the overnight
  across parts of the Gulf Coast region from southeastern
  Mississippi to western Georgia. Some of the storms will be
  capable of producing significant severe weather including strong
  tornadoes and very large hail. "Particularly Dangerous
  Situation" tornado watch 17 is in effect over parts of this
  region. Separate areas of severe storms ongoing over parts of
  Arkansas and Louisiana also may pose a continuing tornado and
  large-hail risk for a few more hours into western and southern
  Mississippi.

Preparedness actions...

Tornadoes at night can be particularly dangerous because they
are usually fast-moving and difficult to see. Stay tuned to
NOAA Weather Radio, weather.gov, or other media for watches and
warnings. A tornado watch means that conditions are favorable
for tornadoes to form during the next several hours. If a tornado
warning is issued for your area, move to a place of safety,
ideally in a basement or interior room on the lowest floor of a
sturdy building.
