Fire Weather Forecast for Northeast and North Central Colorado
National Weather Service Denver/Boulder CO
327 AM MDT Tue May 7 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM THIS MORNING TO 7 PM MDT
THIS EVENING FOR SOUTHEAST ELBERT AND SOUTHERN LINCOLN COUNTIES...

.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Critical fire conditions will be
in place due to very windy conditions and low humidity over
southeast Elbert and southern Lincoln counties this afternoon
into the early evening hours.

Otherwise very windy conditions will remain over the area today
with snow in the mountains. Across the plains it will be dry
with elevated fire conditions in some areas. Tonight snow will
continue in the mountains this evening but decrease by midnight.
Across the plains it will be dry with decreasing wind.

LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Wednesday through Saturday...Cloudiness
and the chance of showers will increase on Wednesday for much of
the forecast area. There will be elevated fire weather conditions
over southeast Elbert and southern Lincoln counties for a few
hours Wednesday afternoon. A cooler, unsettled pattern is expected
Thursday and Friday with many areas expecting showers. Saturday
looks to warm up a bit, but there should be a chance of afternoon
showers and thunderstorms over the mountains and foothills.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty erratic winds...
...All surface winds are 20-Foot...10-Minute averaged winds...
...CWR is Chance of Wetting Rain - 0.10 inch or more liquid...
...24 HR Trends are based on averages over the respective zone
groups and may not match the actual forecast values
                    shown in those groups...
