...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR 06/21/15 THUNDERSTORM WIND EVENT IN TIPTON...

.OVERVIEW...

A THUNDERSTORM SQUALL LINE MOVED EAST ACROSS CENTRAL INDIANA
DURING THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF JUNE 21. STRAIGHT LINE WIND
DAMAGE OCCURRED IN MANY AREAS. THE GREATEST WIND DAMAGE OCCURRED
NEAR ATTICA IN WESTERN INDIANA AND IN TIPTON IN CENTRAL INDIANA.

BASED ON OBSERVED WIND REPORTS AND TREE DAMAGE...WINDS LIKELY
RANGED FROM 60 TO 80 MPH AT TIMES AS THESE STORMS RACED ACROSS
CENTRAL INDIANA. SINCE SOILS WERE VERY WET AND SOFT FROM RECENT
RAINS...TREES WERE MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO BEING UPROOTED.

NUMEROUS TREE LIMBS AND TREES WERE DOWNED ACROSS THE CITY OF
TIPTON. ALL TREES AND LIMBS FELL TO THE EAST OR SOUTHEAST IN LINE
WITH THE PATH OF THE CENTER OF A BOW ECHO SQUALL LINE.
