.DISCUSSION...
...INCREASED FIRE DANGER POTENTIAL TODAY FOR EASTERN NC...
There will be an increased threat for wildfires across most of
Eastern NC today until around sunset. The combination of strong
westerly wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph, relative humidity values
of 20 to 25 percent this afternoon, and dry ground fuels will
allow any fires to quickly spread with erratic fire behavior
possible.
High pressure builds into the area from the south this weekend
and dominates into early next week with a dry frontal passage
occurring Monday night. Ridging reestablishes itself by Tuesday
with the next potential frontal system at the end of next week.
