Marine layer clouds are forecast each night and morning for the coast and valleys through next week. A few degrees of warming is expected Sunday and Monday, with minor cooling Monday and Tuesday. A few light showers may form over the mountains Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Seasonally warm weather is forecast Thursday and Friday. && .DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE... SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO COUNTIES... Marine layer clouds will inhibit Northern Lights viewing in the coastal zones tonight. The best viewing will be in the far eastern valleys, the mountains and the deserts. At 8 PM low clouds had spread as far inland as Rainbow and Fallbrook in Northern San Diego County, and as far inland as Lemon Grove and La Mesa in South County. In Orange County, low clouds covered San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano. Farther north skies were clear at Fullerton and Yorba Linda but clouds were moving in from the southwest. They will steadily move into the valleys overnight, then retreat back to near to coast Sunday afternoon. This pattern will repeat each day through next week with only small day to day variations in the marine layer depth. A weak ridge builds over SoCal Sunday and Monday for a few degrees of warming in the valleys, mountains and deserts. The ridge drifts east Tuesday, and a weak trough will bring a few degrees of cooling midweek along with a deeper marine layer. This trough will also bring small chances for showers over the mountains Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. The nation`s high today was 100 at Death Valley. Palm Spring, Thermal and Ocotillo Wells were close behind with a high of 98. && .AVIATION... 120320Z...Coast/Valleys...Areas of low clouds spreading inland at this hour with bases 1000-1500 ft MSL and tops to 2500 ft MSL. CIG impacts currently at coastal TAF sites. There is about a 40 percent chance of CIG and VIS impacts at KONT 10Z-15Z and less than a 20 percent chance at KSBD. In San Diego County, low clouds and fog will likely reach KRNM by 11Z, obscuring higher terrain with VIS 1-3SM where clouds and terrain intersect. Clearing inland 15Z-17Z and at the coast 18Z-20Z. Mountains/Deserts...Mostly clear with unrestricted VIS through Sunday morning. SCT/BKN clouds over the mountains with bases around 9000 ft MSL Sunday afternoon. && .MARINE...
