.DISCUSSION...Southwest winds persist much of the day ahead of an
approaching frontal boundary. Mixing heights around 4000-4500 ft
AGL and transport winds around 10-15 kts will support afternoon
clearing index values around 600. Some isolated to scattered rain
showers will be possible with an initial push of moisture mid
afternoon into the early evening, with better chances noted near
the actual cold frontal boundary which is expected to move through
roughly 2200-0200 LDT. With this front, will also see
precipitation type begin to favor snow, and winds shift to a more
northerly direction. Isolated to at times scattered snow showers
will be a continued possibility into Wednesday, primarily during
the afternoon hours. With mixing heights around 5500-6000 ft AGL
and stronger transport winds ~25-30 mph Wednesday afternoon,
anticipate max clearing index values in excess of 1000.
