THE COLD AND SNOWY WEATHER THAT BEGAN AT THE END OF JANUARY
CONTINUED RIGHT THROUGH FEBRUARY. IN FACT... FROM JANUARY 24 THROUGH
FEBRUARY 25 CONCORD NEVER WENT MORE THAN 2 DAYS WITHOUT SNOWFALL.
THE CONSISTENT COLD AND SNOWY WEATHER WAS EXCEPTIONAL. CONCORD
FINISHED AS THE SECOND COLDEST FEBRUARY ON RECORD. THE ONLY ABOVE
NORMAL DAY IN THE MONTH WAS FEBRUARY 22 WHEN THE TEMPERATURE SOARED
TO 38 DEGREES, THE HIGHEST OF THE MONTH AND ONE OF ONLY 3 DAYS THIS
MONTH TO RISE ABOVE FREEZING.

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 12.1 DEGREES. THIS WAS 12.2 DEGREES
BELOW NORMAL AND RANKED AS THE SECOND COLDEST ON RECORD, MISSING OUT
ON THE TOP SPOT AS COLDEST FEBRUARY BY ONLY 0.1 DEGREES. THE COLDEST
FEBRUARY ON RECORD WAS 1934 WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 34.0
DEGREES. THE WARMEST WAS 1877 WITH AN AVERAGE OF 32.3 DEGREES. THE

NOT ONLY WERE DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURES VERY COLD THIS MONTH, BUT
DAILY LOW TEMPERATURES WERE COLD AS WELL. THERE WERE 23 NIGHTS WHICH
FELL INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS, SECOND MOST ON RECORD. THERE WERE ALSO
13 DAYS THAT FELL TO ZERO DEGREES OR COLDER, 6TH MOST ON RECORD. THE
FOLLOWING TABLE LISTS THE FEBRUARYS WITH THE MOST DAYS WITH A LOW
TEMPERATURE IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND A LOW TEMPERATURE OF ZERO
DEGREES OR COLDER.

A TOTAL OF 2.79 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL IN FEBRUARY WHICH WAS
0.17 ABOVE NORMAL. THE MOST PRECIPITATION FELL ON FEBRUARY 8 AND 9
WHEN 0.92 INCHES WAS RECORDED DURING A SNOWSTORM. THE WETTEST
FEBRUARY ON RECORD WAS 2008 WHEN 8.96 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION WAS
RECORDED. THE DRIEST WAS 1987 WITH ONLY 0.03 INCHES.

SNOWFALL FOR THE MONTH TOTALED 42.5 INCHES WHICH WAS 30.2 INCHES
ABOVE NORMAL AND THE 4TH SNOWIEST ON RECORD. THIS ALSO MARKED THE
THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR THAT FEBRUARY WAS 20 OR MORE INCHES ABOVE
NORMAL. THERE WERE 9 DAYS IN FEBRUARY THAT RECORDED AT LEAST 1 INCH
OF SNOWFALL. THIS WAS THE MOST SINCE 1920 WHEN 10 DAYS HAD 1 INCH OR
MORE. THE SNOWIEST FEBRUARY ON RECORD WAS 1893 WHEN 59.0 INCHES
FELL. THE LEAST SNOWY WAS 1877 WHEN ONLY TRACES OF SNOW WERE
OBSERVED. THE FOLLOWING TABLE LISTS THE SNOWIEST FEBRUARYS ON RECORD
AT CONCORD.
