PRECIPITATION...

AUGUST STARTED OUT WITH NEAR NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND RELATIVELY DRY
CONDITIONS AT FORT WAYNE. DURING THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF THE
MONTH...HIGH TEMPERATURES GENERALLY RANGED FROM THE UPPER 70S TO MID
80S...ASIDE FROM A HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 90 DEGREES ON THE 2ND. THERE
WERE ONLY THREE DAYS WITH MEASURABLE RAINFALL IN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS
OF THE MONTH...ONLY TOTALING 0.91 INCHES OF .

A MORE TUMULTUOUS PATTERN DEVELOPED DURING THE LAST HALF OF THE
MONTH...WITH OVERALL COOLER AND WETTER CONDITIONS. AFTER A STRETCH
OF ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FROM THE 15TH THROUGH THE
19TH...TEMPERATURES WERE WELL BELOW NORMAL FROM THE 20TH THROUGH THE
28TH...RECOVERING TO NEAR OR ABOVE NORMAL BY THE END OF THE MONTH.
FORT WAYNE ALSO HAD 6 DAYS OF MEASURABLE RAINFALL FROM THE 15TH
THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH.

THE AVERAGE MONTHLY TEMPERATURE WAS 70.4 DEGREES...1.1 DEGREES BELOW
NORMAL. THIS WAS THE 30TH COOLEST AUGUST SINCE 1912. THE HIGHEST
TEMPERATURE WAS 90 ON THE 2ND...AND THE COOLEST TEMPERATURE WAS 50
ON THE 27TH.
