...WARMER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL IN KOTZEBUE,ALASKA...

MARCH 2014 WAS A WARMER AND DRIER THAN NORMAL MONTH IN KOTZEBUE. THE FIRST
PART OF THE MONTH WAS DOMINATED BY HIGH PRESSURE CENTERED OVER THE NORTHWEST
TERRITORIES OF CANADA. THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH SAW A POWERFUL LOW PRESSURE
SYSTEM IN THE GULF OF ALASKA WITH SHORT WAVE TROUGHS ROTATING EAST TO WEST
THROUGH THE AREA. THE LAST PART OF THE MONTH SAW HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE WEST
COAST AND RUSSIA  DOMINATING THE WEATHER OVER KOTZEBUE.


TEMPERATURES...MARCH 2014 WAS THE 12TH WARMEST FOR AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE
AND 15TH WARMEST FOR AVERAGE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE IN STATION HISTORY. THE AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE WAS ALSO THE 12TH WARMEST TEMPERATURE IN STATION HISTORY.


PRECIPITATION...MARCH 2014 WAS SLIGHT BELOW NORMAL FOR THE MONTH. THE ONLY
RECORDS SET DURING THE MONTH WERE FOR PRECIPITATION AND SNOWFALL ON THE 13TH OF
THE MONTH.
