...WARMEST SEPTEMBER IN HISTORY WITH MORE RAINFALL FOR SAINT PAUL...


SEPTEMBER 2014 FOR ST PAUL HAS OFFICIALLY SET THE RECORD AS ONE OF THE WARMEST IN
RECORDED HISTORY WITH TWENTY TIED OR BROKEN HIGH TEMPERATURE RECORDS. THE BEGINNING
OF THE MONTH BEGAN WITH HIGH PRESSURE BUILT OVER THE AREA...CREATING MOSTLY SUNNY
DAYS...WHICH CREATED RECORD MAXIMUM HIGH CONDITIONS THE 1ST...4TH...AND 5TH.
TOWARDS THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER... A VIGOROUS LOW PRESSURE CAME THROUGH...GIVING ST
PAUL THE BULK OF ITS SEPTEMBER PRECIPITATION...INCLUDING A RECORD AMOUNT ON THE
11TH.  SOUTHERLY FLOW AND OVERCAST SKIES ALSO CONTRIBUTED TO THE HIGH MINIMUMS
DURING THIS PERIOD.  FOLLOWING A SUCCEEDING SERIES OF MINOR LOWS...HIGH PRESSURE
BUILT BACK OVER THE PRIBILOFS THROUGH THE END OF THE MONTH...CONTRIBUTING TO A FEW
MORE MAXIMUM HIGH RECORDS.


MONTHLY TEMPERATURE AVERAGES WERE ONCE AGAIN IN THE TOP TEN ON RECORD FOR THE MONTH
OF  SEPTEMBER. THE AVERAGE MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS THE WARMEST... THE AVERAGE
MINIMUM TEMPERATURE WAS THE SECOND WARMEST... AND THE OVERALL AVERAGE MONTHLY
TEMPERATURE WAS THE WARMEST ON RECORD. ON AVERAGE...THE DAILY MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE
WAS 4.4 DEGREES WARMER THAN NORMAL. ST PAUL TIED SIX AND BROKE SEVEN RECORD MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURES... AND TIED ONE AND BROKE SEVEN HIGH MINIMUMS...FOR A TOTAL OF TWENTY-
ONE NEW TEMPERATURE RECORDS.


PRECIPITATION FOR SEPTEMBER 2014 WAS SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL AS WELL... WITH TOTAL
ACCUMULATION 0.58 ABOVE NORMAL OF THE MONTHLY AVERAGE.  17 DAYS HAD PRECIPITATION
GREATER THAN 0.01... WITH THE 11TH SETTING A RECORD FOR 0.81 INCHES IN ONE DAY.
