FLOOD STATEMENT

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Arkansas...Mississippi...Louisiana..

  Mississippi River Near Arkansas City affecting Chicot...Desha...
  Bolivar and Washington Counties

  Mississippi River Near Greenville affecting Chicot...East
  Carroll...Issaquena and Washington Counties

  Mississippi River At Vicksburg affecting Madison...Tensas...
  Claiborne...Jefferson and Warren Counties/Parishes

  Mississippi River At Natchez affecting Concordia...Adams and
  Wilkinson Counties/Parishes

SYNOPSIS...

Rainfall from 5 to 8 inches is expected to fall from Northwest
Arkansas through the southeastern half of Missouri and into
Illinois over the next 3 days. This rainfall will produce
a crest of 49 feet at Cairo, IL which is at the mouth
of the Ohio River. Cairo is not expected to crest until
May 6th. Significant rises will occur along the Lower
Mississippi River from Arkansas City to Natchez well ahead of
the Cairo crest due to increased flows that will come
from the Arkansas River. Much of the heavy rainfall in
Northwest Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma will flow into the
Arkansas River. Planted crop land within the levee system will
be inundated.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive or walk through areas where water covers roadway! The
water may be deeper than it appears. Remember...Turn around, don`t
drown!

Forecasts are based on rainfall that has occurred and that which is
forecast to occur. Routine 24 hours of forecast rainfall is used for
most sites. Routine 48 hours of forecast rainfall is used on Tibbee
Creek...Luxapallila Creek...Noxubee River...and the Tombigbee River.


The next regularly scheduled update is expected between 8 and 10 AM.

  The Mississippi River Near Arkansas City
* from Wednesday May 10 to Wednesday May 17.
* At 7:00 PM Friday the stage was 26.3 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 37.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage Wednesday May 10
  and will continue to rise to near 37.5 feet Saturday May 13.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest of 38.2 feet
  on Jul 21 2015.
* Impact...At 37.0 feet...The low silt plain in front of arkansas city
  inside the levee system begins to flood along with widespread
  bottomland flooding at huntington point mississippi.
* Impact...At 35.0 feet...The Road to donaldson point is cut off.

  The Mississippi River Near Greenville
* from Tuesday May 09 to Thursday May 18.
* At 7:00 PM Friday the stage was 38.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage Tuesday May 09 and
  will continue to rise to near 49.0 feet Sunday May 14.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest of 48.0 feet
  on Mar 31 2015.
* Impact...At 48.0 feet...Water begins to cover the dirt road leading
  to the Farmers Grain terminal facility which is north of the
  Greenville bridge.
* Impact...At 45.0 feet...Lower Lake Ferguson Road is closed. Warfield
  Point Park is closed.
* Impact...At 44.5 feet...Road to Bunge Corporation grain elevators is
  under water.
* Impact...At 43.5 feet...Lower Lake Ferguson Road begins to flood.
* Impact...At 42.0 feet...Flooding is occurring around Lake Ferguson.

  The Mississippi River At Vicksburg
* from Tuesday May 09 to Saturday May 20.
* At 7:00 PM Friday the stage was 32.9 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 43.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage Tuesday May 09 and
  will continue to rise to near 44.5 feet Tuesday May 16.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest of 43.3 feet
  on Mar 18 2016.
* Impact...At 44.6 feet...Residence on Williams Street in Vicksburg
  begins to flood.
* Impact...At 44.0 feet...Ford and Kings Subdivision at Pittman Road
  and Mary`s Alley begins to flood.
* Impact...At 43.5 feet...Long Lake Subdivision is completely flooded.
  Vicksburg Floodwall gates at train depot and the lumber yard gate 8
  are closed.
* Impact...At 43.0 feet...Jackson Lane in North Vicksburg begins to
  flood.
* Impact...At 42.0 feet...Bunge Grain facility near St. Joseph
  Louisiana ceases loading operations. Chickasaw Road is going under
  water just west of Chickasaw Community.
* Impact...At 41.5 feet...Water reaches the slab of the first
  structure in the Chickasaw Bayou Subdivision.
* Impact...At 41.2 feet...Long Lake Road is under water starting where
  the low road to the island takes off south.  Access to Long Lake
  Community requires a boat. Chickasaw Road goes under water just
  west of the Chickasaw Community.
* Impact...At 41.0 feet...The storm water drain valves are closed at
  the flood gates along the Vicksburg Water Front.
* Impact...At 40.5 feet...Shady Lane Drive becomes impassable. Long
  Lake Road becomes impassable just north of Cypress Drive.
* Impact...At 39.5 feet...The Long Lake Road to Eagle Lake Road
  becomes impassable about 1 mile north of the Long Lake Community.
* Impact...At 38.8 feet...The Vicksburg FloodWall Gate at Crawford
  street is closed.
* Impact...At 36.5 feet...Water begins to affect the Long Lake
  Community. The low road to Kings Island becomes impassable.
* Impact...At 35.0 feet...Several thousand acres of farm,
  agricultural, and bottom land flood. In the Yazoo Backwater Area
  north of the city, hunting camps and forested land begin to flood.

The Flood Warning continues for
  The Mississippi River At Natchez
* from Sunday May 07 to Tuesday May 23.
* At 7:00 PM Friday the stage was 40.5 feet.
* Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 48.0 feet.
* Forecast...The river will rise above flood stage Sunday May 07 and
  will continue to rise to near 52.0 feet Wednesday May 17.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest of 51.2 feet
  on Mar 20 2016.
* Impact...At 51.0 feet...Water is covering the roads in old downtown
  area of Fort Adams.
* Impact...At 48.0 feet...Carthage Point Road becomes impassable.
* Impact...At 47.0 feet...Water begins to enter the former Belwood
  Golf Course and Carthage Point Road area south of Natchez.
* Impact...At 45.0 feet...Water under some buildings around Fort
  Adams, Mississippi.
* Impact...At 44.0 feet...Some camps and most access roads are flooded
  along Lake Mary.
* Impact...At 43.0 feet...Water covers Thornburg Lake Road in the area
  known as Anna`s Bottom which is north of Natchez. Also, Lake Mary
  Road is under water.
* Impact...At 38.0 feet...Lowlands along the river in areas not
  protected by levees begin to flood. On both side of the river,
  there are areas that contain oil and gas wells; however, these are
  not affected until higher stages.
