FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR ALASKA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ANCHORAGE AK
341 PM AKDT SUN MAY 1 2016

.DISCUSSION...
INSTABILITY FROM A BROAD BUT SOMEWHAT DIFFUSE THERMAL TROUGH
STRETCHED ACROSS SOUTHWEST ALASKA WILL CONTINUE TO BRING NUMEROUS
SHOWERS AS WELL AS SOME ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS TO THE LOWER AND
MIDDLE KUSKOKWIM VALLEY AS WELL AS THE GREATER BRISTOL BAY AREA
THROUGH THIS EVENING. ON MONDAY THE THERMAL TROUGH WILL SHARPEN
WITH STRONGER INSTABILITY ALONG ITS AXIS BRINGING A BETTER
POTENTIAL FOR AFTERNOON AND EVENING THUNDERSTORMS TO THE MIDDLE
KUSKOKWIM VALLEY AND NORTHERN BRISTOL BAY AREAS IN ADDITION TO
ANOTHER ROUND OF SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS ACROSS MUCH OF
SOUTHWEST ALASKA.
