FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR CENTRAL/NORTHERN VERMONT AND
NORTHERN NEW YORK
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BURLINGTON VT
444 AM EDT TUE MAY 24 2016

...SLOW INCREASE IN MOISTURE TODAY WITH CHANCE OF STORMS WEDNESDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
AN UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OFF THE MID-ATLANTIC COAST
EARLY THIS MORNING WILL MOVE NORTHEAST AND REACH THE EASTERN
PORTIONS OF MAINE BY WEDNESDAY MORNING. MOISTURE WILL BE
INCREASING OVER THE AREA IN RESPONSE TO THIS SYSTEM...ESPECIALLY
OVER VERMONT AS IT WILL BE CLOSER TO THE APPROACHING UPPER LOW.
AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL BE ABOUT 10 PERCENT HIGHER THAN
YESTERDAY AND THERE WILL BE A CHANCE FOR SHOWERS ACROSS VERMONT
AND ESSEX COUNTY NEW YORK THIS AFTERNOON BEFORE COMING TO AN END
TONIGHT. TOTAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL BE LESS THAN A QUARTER OF AN
INCH. NO PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY MORNING...BUT AN
UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA AND
ENHANCE THE POTENTIAL FOR SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS
NORTHERN NEW YORK AND VERMONT. AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITIES WILL
BE ANOTHER 5 TO 10 PERCENT HIGHER THAN TUESDAY. WINDS WILL BE A
BIT GUSTY ON WEDNESDAY WITH READINGS IN THE 15 TO 25 MPH RANGE
WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. LOOKING AHEAD THURSDAY LOOKS TO BE A DRY
DAY...BUT THEN FRIDAY THROUGH MONDAY WILL SEE A CHANCE OF SHOWERS
OR THUNDERSTORMS EACH DAY IN RESPONSE TO WARMER TEMPERATURES AND
HIGHER HUMIDITIES.
