Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
322 PM PDT Mon May 22 2017

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS INTERIOR AREAS THROUGH TUESDAY...

...GUSTY SOUTHWEST WINDS INTERIOR SECTIONS WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
High pressure aloft will continue to bring warmer (highs 85-95) and
drier (minimums 12-25 percent) than normal conditions to areas away
from the coast through early Wednesday. Winds will be light in the
morning hours, but afternoon and evening onshore flow will be locally
breezy (focused over interior sections) each afternoon and evening.
This will result in elevated fire weather conditions for interior
areas each afternoon and evening through Tuesday.

Low pressure will slowly form over the area Wednesday through
Friday...bringing a cooling and marine layer deepening trend.
Initially on Wednesday, unstable air over the mountains with limited
moisture will create an outside chance (10 percent) of a
thunderstorm. This change will also bring gusty to strong southwest
winds over the interior sections, with gusts in the 35 to 50 mph
range common in the afternoon hours. High pressure should build back
over the district this weekend into early next week with warmer and
drier conditions expected.
