FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR NW OREGON AND SW WASHINGTON
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND OR
243 PDT SUN AUG 30 2015

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...POST COLD FRONTAL SHOWERS TO TAPER
OFF THIS EVENING AS AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH MOVES OFF TO THE EAST.
THEN EXPECT COOL AND SHOWERY WEATHER THROUGH NEXT WEEK AS A
BROAD UPPER LEVEL TROUGH SETS UP OVER THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST.
A WEAK FRONT MAY BRING ENHANCED SHOWER ACTIVITY TUESDAY AND
WEDNESDAY. A BRIEF WARMING AND DRYING TREND MAY OCCUR NEXT
WEEKEND.

.DISCUSSION...A COLD FRONT MOVED EAST OF THE CASCADES THIS
MORNING...AND SHOWERS CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON IN A FAIRLY
UNSTABLE POST FRONTAL AIR MASS. THE SHOWERS WILL TAPER OFF
CONSIDERABLY THIS EVENING AS WARMING ALOFT BEGINS TO STABILIZE
THE ATMOSPHERE. EXPECT GENERALLY COOL AND SHOWERY FALL LIKE
CONDITIONS TO SET UP THIS WEEK WITH VERY LITTLE CHANGE IN THE
OVERALL WEATHER PATTERN FROM DAY TO DAY. A BROAD UPPER LEVEL
TROUGH WILL DROP SOUTH INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST AND REMAIN
IN PLACE THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK. A WEAK FRONT AND UPPER
LEVEL SHORTWAVE DISTURBANCE WILL LIKELY ENHANCE SHOWER
ACTIVITY ON TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. A SHORTWAVE RIDGE IS MODELED
TO BUILD INTO THE REGION OVER THE WEEKEND...BRINGING A BRIEF
PERIOD OF WARMING AND DRYING CONDITIONS BEFORE ANOTHER TROUGH
DROPS IN NEXT WEEK. PYLE
