Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NW Oregon and SW Washington
National Weather Service Portland OR
215 PM PDT Fri Apr 21 2017

...RETURN TO COOLER CONDITIONS THIS WEEKEND...
...UNSETTLED PATTERN MUCH OF NEXT WEEK...

.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...High pressure over the forecast area
today will shift east tonight. Low-level offshore flow continues to
strengthens tonight, but will shift to an onshore regime Saturday. A
weakening weather system will bring cooler conditions Saturday. A
series of weather systems next week will result in cooler and wetter
conditions.

.DISCUSSION...An upper level ridge over the forecast area today
will shift east tonight. Offshore flow strengthens tonight, but
weakens early Saturday morning. A weakening frontal system reaches
the coast late tonight, which will return onshore low-level flow to
the area. Another weak system impacts the region Sunday, which will
open the door for an extended period of cool and wet conditions. A
much stronger front moves through the Pacific Northwest Monday. This
system is expected to bring widespread wetting rain to much of the
area. Cool and wet conditions persist Tuesday through much of next
week.
