Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Southwest Arkansas...
Northwest Louisiana...East Texas...and Extreme Southeast Oklahoma
National Weather Service Shreveport LA
354 PM CST Sun Dec 17 2017

.DISCUSSION...
Extensive low level cloudiness has kept temperatures cooler than
originally anticipated late this afternoon. /40s and 50s/. Courtesy
of last nights much welcomed rainfall coupled with east-southeast 20-
foot winds of less than 5 kts, will result in excellent recoveries
in relative humidity values /aoa 100 percent/. This will mean the
return of patchy/areas of fog, as well as the plausibility for dense
fog once again. Temperatures are expected to warm into the 50s and
60s tomorrow however, moist grounds and ensuing east-southeast 20
foot winds /less than 5 kts/ will mitigate humidities from
plummeting during peak heating /60-80 percent/. In addition,
chances for rainfall will make a return and invade the region from
south to north tomorrow, with the potential for periods of
moderate to heavy precipitation occurring Monday night through
Tuesday. This impending rainfall is courtesy of an approaching
upper level disturbance from the west. A few thunderstorms is not
out of the question either /especially tomorrow night-Tuesday/.
Tuesday will be similar except it will be warmer /60s and 70s/,
wetter and the impingement of a cold front will veer 20-foot winds
to the north to aoa 5 kts or less.

If computer models rainfall amounts come into fruition, this
rainfall event will result in a couple of inches of rainfall for
portions of the ARKLATEX and southeast OK. This can only aid in the
easement of the ongoing drought and also prompt low/nil fire weather
concerns. There are still several counties and parishes under a burn
ban and until the burn ban is no longer in effect, outdoor equipment
which produces sparks or flames is discouraged.
